Setting up shipping rates

Here's a guide on how to set up shipping rates.

CSV headers -

-- DELETE BEFORE UPLOAD -- - This is the names of the countries listed, this is just to help you know exactly what country is coded out. The list of countries already inputted is a list of the European countries (this is because most people will say in their shipping requests European countries rather than listing them out)

Country - This is the country relevant to that shipping price / type. a * means all that aren't included below. So this essentially means any non EU countries, and not USA. The code you have to put in to add a country is the ISO 3166-1 Alpha-3 codes which can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-3. For example, if you wanted to add specific prices for Maldives under country you would write MDV

Region/State - This generally should always be *, only really needed if you have specific requirements for places within countries.

City - As above

Zip/Postal Code From - As above

Zip To - As above

Weight from - If the shipping is based on weight, then enter the weight variants here. For example, if 0 to 80kg's is £5 and anything above 80 is £10 in here you'd duplicate the country twice, and have 0 in the first one and 80.1 in the second

Weight to - If the shipping is based on weight, then enter the weight variants here. For example, if 0 to 80kg's is £5 and anything above 80 is £10 in here you'd duplicate the country twice, and have 80 in the first one and * in the second

Price From - If the shipping is based on price, you enter that here. For example, if orders under £20 are £5 shipping but orders over £20 are free you'd again duplicate the country and have 0 in the first and 20.01 in the second

Price To - If the shipping is based on price, you enter that here. For example, if orders under £20 are £5 shipping but orders over £20 are free you'd again duplicate the country and have 20 in the first and 99999999 in the second

Shipping Price - How much you charge for shipping with these spec's

Delivery Type - This is what comes up when you select the delivery method

Sort Order - This is if you have multiple shipping options, e.g. Next day, same day, standard, snail mail you'd put the order here you want it to list as.

Guide for uploading

Amend the .CSV as required and save
Go into the admin and go to System > Configuration
Select "Shipping Methods" under the title "Sales" down the left
Open the tab "Webshopapps Matrix Rates"
Under the tab toward the top left entitled "Current Configuration Scope" select "Main Website" from the drop down
You should now see "Import" and "Export CSV" as options, select the file you want to upload and hit "Save Config"
If you receive any errors, you've entered something incorrectly in the CSV, if you can't figure this out email it to me and I'll check it for you.
If you receive the message "The configuration has been saved." your update has been successful!

Hints and Tips
  • If the shipping rate uses Weight as its delimiter but doesn't use price, you can simply delete the price fields to save space. You can also do this with Sort Order
  • Don't forget * means all, so Region/State, Zip, City etc for all you just put *
  • Always remove the first column before you upload, it's there as a hint only.
